Woman gets 39 years for killing 5-year-old daughter

Calling her a torturer, a judge today sentenced a Maine Township woman to 39 years in prison for brutally killing her 5-year-old daughter in 2007.

Mila Petrov, 32, sat with her head in her hands as photos of her daughter's scarred body were shown in a Skokie courtroom. She cried as Cook County chief medical examiner Nancy Jones described burns, bruises and marks on the body from being tied up.

"I just wanted to tell you that I'm really sorry," Petrov told Judge Garritt Howard. "I know that God forgives me. I'm with Jesus. We all make mistakes."
"You turned out to be her torturer and the person who caused her death," the judge told Petrov.

Petrov was charged with first-degree murder after her daughter, Melanie Beltran, died in March 2007 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Prosecutors said the girl suffered years of beatings and cruel punishments.

The last beating, on March 13, 2007, started when Petrov became angry because Melanie had vomited, prosecutors said.

Petrov told authorities she struck her daughter in the back of the head, causing her head to hit a wall. When Melanie denied getting sick, Petrov threatened to put hot sauce on her daughter's tongue for lying. That punishment was used often on the girl, prosecutors said.

Petrov then took her daughter into another room and hit her again, causing her head to strike the floor, prosecutors said. Petrov told police that Melanie was not breathing and that she did not have a heartbeat, but she did not immediately call an ambulance because she feared she would get into trouble.

Petrov eventually called her husband, Carlos Beltran, and asked what she should do, and he told her to call an ambulance.

In June, Beltran, 34, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery of a child in Melanie's death and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

О господи, мало таво што делали запредельные вещи, так ещо и выглядят как експанаты кунскамеры (особенно ета Мила) Брррррр.......... Ващета линчевать бы их за ето не мешало бы.
