To clarify to the skeptics:
This job is typically referred to as "system administrator." You typical schedule is 40 hr per week. You typical pay is anywhere from 45K to 120K depending on knowledge. Your typical benefit package includes the industry's standard Health insurance, dental, vision, and life. Also paid vacation time ranging from 2 to 3 weeks per year. 780 is a very small price to pay considering what you are getting in return.
Not BS here. Well, technically your resume is going to be slightly over-inflated at first and I guess you can say that is BS. But as far as the course is concerned - Not BS. As a matter of fact, it is very challenging material and not for everyone. Computer science isn't for everyone. Someone has to deliver goods, someone has to load trucks, someone has to sand drywall. Not everyone is meant to be an engineer. But this course will give you that opportunity. That's all.

Hey thanks. I didn't even know about portnov. That does seem like a legitimate and perhaps better established business. I guess I do have competition after all. Great. There's also the Valdi group. Them I heard about.
But no, I am not copying anyone. I am offering something unique here. I don't overpromice, but I do overdeliver. Once the course begins you are mine for four months. And coincidentally I am yours. The number of hours we will all spend working together is huge. We will not cover testing. That is QA and those jobs are hard to find. That portnov thing sounds like a straight up business - where they will take anyone who gives them money and give them same thing they give everyone else - a lecture. My current job is called Unix systems engineer. I cannot announce the name of the company I currently work for here for obvious reasons. I can honestly say that I love it. Yes there are things that get on my nerves sometimes, but they are small compared to things I suffered as a truck driver, or as a construction company owner prior to that, or as real estate agent prior to that, or as a car salesman prior to that. I did it all and it all amounted to nothing but hell. What I am providing in my class, among other things, is how to avoid failure. I hear time and time again from wise guys here that this is BS, and that this is not real, and that this is rip off. I say hey. Look at me. Look at my friends, my coworkers... Wanna learn? or wanna stay where you are? - the choice is yours

When I offered this course for free several months ago, I received nearly 50 responses eager to learn. It didn't matter where or when. Naturally I selected only a few for experimental purposes and out of those few majority have since dropped. The material is tough and very challenging. Plus I didn't have a comprehensive curriculum in place. The few students who stayed and are continuing the course now until may are doing relatively well. My expectations are much higher of them, but I get it - they are not invested in it. It is free, so they have nothing to lose. That is why I kinda take it easy on them too. In any case, they will soon be drilling interview questions and submitting resumes. I pray that they start practicing more, or else they will simply fail. I promised them that they will be able to attend the class second time for free if they can't pass tech interviews. But my point is this: If you and I (whoever you are) enter into a contract (meaning you give me money and shake my hand) one thing you can count on with absolute certainty: You are gonna learn in 4 months what you wouldn't learn in college in 4 years. How? - simple. You are not going to sleep much, that's all. And if you are a truck driver by chance, then the concept is very familiar to you.

Без всякого желания подставы для автора, а для пользы заинтересованых: эти технологии вы на лаптопе не попробуете и дома или в калссе не изучите. Для этого нужна инфраструктура недомашних размеров. На работу попасть только с теоретическими знаниями в этой области абсолютно невозможно, ни на какие деньги. Вобщем я бы никому не рекомендовал - зря потраченное время и деньги.

Among other things I want my students to experience real time situations where they would have to ssh into a remote host and fix problems. So I am glad you brought that up. Е, люди преподают то, что хорошо знают, готовят к поиску работы. А вот для выбора профессии и курсов, у каждого своя голова должна быть. Перед тем как учиться и платить, пойти в гугл, посмотреть какие работы и сколько платят, какие требования к учебе, опыту, если подходит - плати.
Аноним, грамматика инженерам и айтишникам до одного места, обычное явление ошибки в письме. Для правильной писанины есть филолухи, а в етой стране еще и Technical Writers.

Напрягает лёгкое несоответствие. ВМ ищет целеустремлённых, амбициозных и работоспособных людей, которые ценят своё и чужое время. Сам же сидит второй день на русском форуме. Hello everyone. Nerusskij - privet. So I see as usual - more and more cynicism and skepticism. Which is totally OK with me. I like debate. I like to run circles around those who want to argue on topic they know nothing about. I also enjoy very much to have battles of wits with unarmed men.
But on serious note: I had some time off, so instead of playing with myself, I launched a few free ads here and there. Like Nerusskij said - testing my waters and see where I should go from there. For instance, right now I am getting more and more inclined to lower the price, because many people have told me so. And if push comes to shove I will lower the price. I still have a month to fine-tune my marketing.
Today I had my class. We did not cover new material, but went over some old stuff and spent a lot of time on helpful links online. Went over Dice.com and how to build personal profile. Which brings me to the next topic Nerusskij brought up. This is about rabotoustrojstvo. I am not jerking anyone around here when I say I am going to help you with jobs. After all why are you doing this? To get a job, right? So what I want to do is to help you with resume (yes, overly inflated and exaggerated resume), where to post, how to answer questions, what questions to learn, what questions to ask... basically how to be a legitimate computer geek. Yes, this is 'po nashemu.' But what do you expect in 4 months? I am simply trying to help you to make a 'breakthrough' in IT, be accepted by these people, be granted an entry. The rest is up to you. Study your ass off and you will succeed. Oh, and in exchange I am asking for some money. Boo Hoo!!!! When you work as a systems engineer or a developer, making normal celery, having normal vacations, friends, relationships, lifestyle... looking back are you really gonna say "man that Phil really ripped me off?"
Anyways, good night skeptics, cynics, potential students, and of course - Nerusskij.

Автор, не снижай цену, а то набежит вот такое быдло и будут устраивать тебе склоки. Знания у тебя есть, оборудование есть, дороже запросишь - качественнее студентов получишь. Тот, кому ето надо, заплатит и будет учиться, так как знает, что будет зарабатывать. А дебилов низкой ценой привлекать, вместо работы будешь с кляузниками разбираться.
