We are a growing trucking company seeking an experienced and driven Safety Director to lead and enforce our company’s safety culture. This role requires a proactive leader with deep knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, transportation compliance, and team management.
As our Safety Director, you will:
• Oversee a safety team of 7 employees
• Develop and implement safety programs, training, and policies
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation safety laws
• Investigate incidents, coach staff, and create a culture of accountability

✅ Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the safety department team (6 members) — mentor, train, and oversee day-to-day responsibilities
• Create, implement, and enforce company safety policies and procedures
• Maintain compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and other applicable regulations
• Oversee driver qualification files, drug & alcohol testing programs, hours of service (HOS) logs, and ELD compliance
• Conduct accident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
• Provide ongoing safety training for drivers and staff, including onboarding and refreshers
• Manage risk mitigation strategies and monitor safety performance metrics
• Prepare and present safety reports to leadership
• Act as company liaison with external regulatory agencies during audits or review
🧠 Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in the trucking/transportation industry, specifically in safety and compliance roles
• Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving performance
• In-depth knowledge of DOT/FMCSA rules and trucking safety requirements
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Experience using safety software or TMS systems is a plus
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities
