Taylor County is seeking a full-time County Conservation Engineer which also serves as the Land Conservation Department Head. Duties include planning, developing, administering and evaluating the Land Conservation programs which include a variety of agriculture land preservation programs, soil and water conservation programs and erosion control programs. Reviews and updates the Taylor County Land and Water Resource Management Plan. Performs engineering analysis and computations. Creates engineered plans with CAD software, drafts contract documents, solicits and reviews bids and recommends award of construction contracts. Oversees quality control of construction materials and methods. Supervises, directs and coordinates contractor performance of construction projects. Prepares and administers the department budget, project construction budgets and grant applications.
Applicants for this position must possess a Bachelor's Degree with two years work experience or an Associate's Degree with four years work experience in Agriculture, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Soil and Water Conservation or related engineering/conservation field or certification as an Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer. Department Head/Supervisory experience desired. It is preferred the applicant have a Private Onsite Wastewater Treatment System [POWTS] Inspector license and a certified soil tester license. A valid driver's license is required.
