24-year-old Buffalo Grove man was days away from starting a career as a nurse when he died last week after falling near a viewpoint at the Grand Canyon National Park, authorities said Monday.
Andrey Privin, who graduated from Buffalo Grove High School in 2012, died July 3 after falling 500 feet at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, according to the park’s website.
Park rangers initially responded to reports of a visitor, later identified as Privin, who had lost his footing after climbing over a railing at a lookout area near Mather Point, park officials said.
An investigation is ongoing, but no further information is available at this time, park officials said.
A spokeswoman for NorthShore University Health System said July 9 that Privin was set to begin a job Monday as a registered nurse at Highland Park Hospital. He had been working at the hospital as a patient care technician, the spokeswoman said.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of our dear colleague and friend Andrey Privin. He was well-loved by his patients and coworkers, and enjoyed a reputation of always going above and beyond to make a significant impact on people’s lives,” a statement from NorthShore University Health System states. “We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.”

Мои соболезнования близким и родным. Как такое могло случиться? Неосторожность, баловство или что-то другое?
