Landlords are business people and file rental revenue as business revenue for IRS taxes. It is a business all right. And not "nowdays". Always being, always will be. Rentals go with the market values. As the sale prices and real estate taxes go up, the rental prices go up too. Simple business.

could not agree more with the last post. My assessment went up this year, so I raised the rent, tenants expect us to do it. When you move out, I spend a lot of money on painting etc., why should i not charge the market rates?
