Job Overview: A fast-growing freight transportation company specializing in Dry Vans and Reefers, is seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of our truck and trailer operations. This is a key leadership role based at our main office, responsible for managing fleet performance, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations, coordinating inspections and repairs, and working closely with both drivers and ownership to maintain safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency across our fleet.
Key Responsibilities: - Fleet Oversight: Monitor and manage the condition, availability, and utilization of all company trucks and trailers. - Maintenance Management: Plan and supervise all preventive maintenance, repairs, and service schedules in coordination with our in-house and external shops. - Compliance: Ensure full DOT and FMCSA compliance, including inspections, logs, and documentation. - Record Keeping: Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and cost reports for each vehicle. - Vendor Management: Negotiate with repair shops, tow companies, and parts providers to ensure timely and cost-effective service. - Driver Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for drivers on fleet-related issues; provide timely updates, instructions, and support. - Incident Response: Coordinate response to breakdowns, accidents, or emergency repairs, ensuring minimal downtime. - Fleet Strategy: Work with company leadership to plan fleet expansion, vehicle replacements, and long-term fleet optimization.
Requirements: - Experience: Proven experience managing fleet operations in a trucking or logistics company (2+ years in a similar role preferred). - Knowledge: Deep understanding of vehicle maintenance, DOT regulations, and equipment standards. - Communication: Strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills for driver and vendor coordination. - Technology: Proficient in spreadsheets, fleet management software, and digital reporting tools. - Problem Solving: Able to make fast, effective decisions under pressure and manage crisis situations calmly.
