LNG Repair Shop (Romeoville, IL) is hiring a Shop Manager to lead all daily operations of a newly acquired semi-truck repair facility. This hands-on leadership role includes managing technicians, parts inventory, customer service, vendor relations, and budgeting. As the team expands, the Manager will focus more on high-level supervision and leadership.
Key Responsibilities: - Daily Operations: Manage workflow, safety, and productivity in the repair shop. - Team Management: Hire, train, and supervise technicians; assign tasks and provide troubleshooting support. - Inventory & Vendors: Oversee parts inventory, order supplies, manage vendor relations, and negotiate pricing. - Budgeting & Reporting: Track expenses, labor, and revenues; generate reports to meet financial goals. - Quality & Compliance: Ensure repair quality, conduct final inspections, and enforce OSHA/DOT regulations. - Process Improvement: Create and improve SOPs, scale operations, and streamline scheduling. - Additional Tasks: Maintain equipment, handle inspections (e.g., EPA/lift), and coordinate with the corporate team.
Required Qualifications: - 2+ years in truck/heavy-duty repair operations with strong diesel system knowledge. - Supervisory experience with strong leadership and communication skills. - Excellent organizational skills, multitasking ability, and attention to detail. - Strong customer service orientation and experience explaining repair issues. - Proficiency with business software and shop management systems. - Understanding of safety standards and DOT compliance.
Preferred: - Prior shop/service management experience (truck or fleet repair). - Vendor negotiation experience and local industry knowledge. - History of process improvement and team scaling.
