Location: Midwest Travel Required
Job Type: Full-Time, 1099 Contractor
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay: $350+ per day
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Horizontal Directional Drilling HDD Operator to join our growing fiber optic construction team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating directional drilling equipment for underground utility installations and fiber optic cable projects.
Responsibilities
• Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Install fiber optic conduit and underground utility infrastructure.
• Read and interpret utility locates, construction plans, and project specifications.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
• Ensure all work is completed according to project timelines and safety standards.
• Coordinate with crew members, supervisors, and project managers.
• Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures at all times.
Requirements
• Previous experience operating HDD equipment such as Vermeer, Ditch Witch, Universal HDD, or similar.
• Experience in fiber optic, telecommunications, or underground utility construction preferred.
• Knowledge of bore planning, utility locating, and underground installation practices.
• Valid driver's license required CDL is a plus.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to safety.
