В первую очередь нужно очистить решетку кулера на процессоре, она наверняка забитая. Если это не решит проблему, и если этот комп HP и тем более dv2-9 серии, тогда больного ко мне на операционный стол, скорее всего придется делать реболлинг видео чипа на материнской плате

Sometimes Dells (mine is Latitude D630) are not easy at all to add even RAM, and would require massive intervention into the computer's body. Kidding, right? Ram change takes 2 minutes on Dells- one screw on the back. Upgrade? Cheaper to by new and transfer all your data from old comp...

MirZ - there are two position for RAM in many Dell laptops including mine - one is on the back panel, and another one is under the keyboard right on the motherboard. My laptop has 4 GB of RAM installable with 4 available slots distributed between those 2 positions.

It is not cheaper actually to buy a good brand new laptop. I am willing to pay some dollars for the help with actual notebook hardware if anybody has more experience than I do. All the hardware upgrade will cost around $120 an additional 2 GB of RAM and bigger hard drive, and may be another $100-120 for a new screen. An equivavlent of a new latop like the one I am trying to make better would be around $700. My Dell has: 2 GB RAM, core 2 duo T7300 2.3 GHz CPU, NVIDIA Quadro video card with 512 VRAM and 2 GB of RAM. Overall it will be around $220 plus price for labor, which I hope will not be to expensive.

I am not sure if it is possible to buy a good notebook for less than $600 that would have equivalent characteristics.

Yes, I am not the one who can assist, sorry. labor for what you have described, sir, takes 2- 3 hours and will be at least $150-200 in normal professional shop by my quesstimate.
My advise, take 1 gb cheap on the back out and replace it with 2 GB cheap, it will give you a total 3 gb of ram, which will speed up your comp significantly. The cheapest memory i have seen was $42 per 2GB. You can buy a 3gb comp with Windows 7 and huge hard drive for less then 500 dollars in best buy...
Please find some one who can do all of what you want for a $100, prove me wrong

новые лаптопы с 4GB памяти стоят от $400, c Nvidia видео от $500.
