подскажите, можно ли прожить семьей из 4-х чел. на 2000$ в месяц в районе Чикаго ? какой реальный прожиточный минимум?

How very interesting, $800 for a 2 bedroom in Wheeling and around, indeed... As far as I know one bedroom in Arlington Heights is around $900. And I saw 2 bedroom in Palatine under $800 in Hispanic-only apartments, for a strong man with a rifle and huge dog it would be a great location.

In Skokie, one-bedroom costs between $700 and $800, and that would be on big streets and in business areas. Quiet, residential locations go for much more. And as for free insurance, it's only in the Gulag

Насчёт insurance я как раз могу поверить. Сама работала в 2х компаниях, где employer оплачивал insurance premium for the employee (not the family thought) на 100%. И это был PPO, not HMO insurance.

Только что ходил на Apartments.com. Rodgers Park, Edgwater цены от 600 - 900. (1 и 2 спальни). Не понимаю о чём спор. Я сам живу в Edgewater, и мне нравится Медицинская страховка 100 - 200 в месяц PPO была везде где я работал.

Sorry if I ofenced you in any way, if you would read carefully you would notice it was meant as a joke.
There is Edgewater on the north side and Edgewater Park near Gary, feel the difference...
By the way I moved to Chicago not so long ago and always heard about nothwestern politeness and hospitality which of course could not be applied on Soviet emigrants... cannot be helped either.

Natasha, the area where we are located is called the Midwest, not Northwest. We do have Northwestern University here, but great however this school may be, it doesn't determine our geography

Dixlo, didn't I quote you a Russian song the other day? Was there any "mat"? By the way, you know what's funny too? I just came back from Israel, and they're saying that the Russian "kebenemat" is a part of their everyday lexicon now, and by "their", I mean Israelis, not Russians.

Диана, такая квартира в Чикаго может стоить от $60 тысяч до $500 тысяч. Смотря в каком районе Чикаго она находится.
