Для того кто подписал ? Никаких последствий кроме возможного звонка из Immigration с просьбой подтвердить. :)
Невозможно через суд заставить платить что-то т.к. affidavit of support не являеться "legally enforcable" - всегда можно сказать что поменялись материальные обстоятельства и денег платить нет, а американский гражданский суд не приймет иск к вам от того кому подписывали на основании этой бумажки.

... т.е. с точки зрения суда affidavit of support не более чем "декларация о намерениях" но никак не "долговое обязательство" за отказ платить по-которому можно судить подписанта.

Не слышал НИ одного судебного процесса когда судья заставил бы спонсора что-то платить.
В США используеться т.н. "прецедентное право" т.е. должен быть реальный судебный прецедент а поскольку таковых не было НИ ОДНОГО то подписанты могут спать спокойно: даже если такой судья и найдеться то скорее всего вышестоящий суд отменит такое решение: для этого Конгресс должен подправить закон и сделать Affidavit "legally enforcable" - расставив все точки над и: сколько платить по-каким бенефитам конкретно, что делать если у спонсора нет денег теперь и т.д., а такового желания у него пока нет.

In real life, the Affidavit of Support is a non issue. Enforcing it would require the US Government to sue the immigrant's sponsor in court. It is very doubtful that this will happen in any but the most severe circumstances where an immigrant has unlawfully accrued tens of thousand of dollars in federal (not state!) money.
Don't tell anyone though.

The case you were discussing is about a spouse who arrived on a K-1 in order to get married and it just didn't work out. In such a case the US citizen shouldn't get his/her spouse a Green Card, as this would be fraud, plain and simple. The cultural implications involved do not change that fact. Importing a foreigner from a completely different country far far away is inherently risky, and both the USC and the foreigner assume that risk when agreeing on pursuing that route.

Ответ адвоката с того же сайта где Аноним нашел свою цитату. :)
Опять таки НЕ СЛЫШАЛ НИ ОДНОГО практического дела где адвокаты правительства судили бы за Affidavit подписантов которые отказались платить а тем кому подписали пришлось бы получать помощь от Федерального правительства.
