Liska,
I'm a criminal defense attorney and I am telling you and everyone else, that under Illinois law, you absolutely and positively cannot expunge a DUI, no matter WHAT deal you got! A DUI conviction obviously cannot be expunged, and even if you received a conditional discharge or got off with court supervision, you can NEVER expunge a record of such, neither can you seal your record. The ONLY way you can expunge a "DUI" is if you were arrested and were tried and found not guilty, or if the case was dismissed. After that, you have to wait at least 120 or 160 (if no demand for trial) to expunge the record of your arrest.
A DUI *CAN* affect your residence status, at the very worst, leading to deportation. That is the law, and in every DUI case in which you plead guilty, the JUDGE explains that to you, and I have heard judges explain that many times.
A separate issue is how likely a guilty plea to a DUI is to affect your residency, and for that, you are right, you need to consult an experienced immigration attorney. I am not, for the most part, an immigration attorney.
